My name is Brooklyn; I am in 11th grade at Salt and Light Academy. I have been attending this hybrid school for a couple months. I went to public school my whole life until recently and struggled with the environment in my school district. When I transferred to Salt and Light Academy in Onslow County, I automatically felt the difference in their approach to school. The facilitators were welcoming and critiqued the standard methodology for school to fit my custom needs. Their approach includes a self-guided structure which allows flexibility for every student to grow at their pace.
For me this environment has allowed me to learn more about myself and who I want to be. In public school, I didn't feel like I belonged anywhere. Now, I feel centered in love where school isn't a punishment, but an opportunity to learn through Christ.
